The SSX is set to debut at the Geneva motor show in the spring of '98, with the formal

introduction to occur during Honda's 50th anniversary celebration in June. US introductions may

occur as soon as October, '98.

The 'base' SSX should cost around US $30k. The top of the line version with the hot motor and

suspension setup may reach as much as US $50k.

The engine will be mounted aft of the front axle line for a quasi-mid-engine layout. This will

obviously afford the SSX a near perfect front/rear weight bias.

The Super VTEC motor to be found in the SSX will reportedly rotate in the clockwise

direction. This will be the first automotive Honda motor that rotates in the clockwise direction.

This requires both transmissions to be all-new designs

The SSX will supposedly spawn several other vehicles from it's platform. First should be a FR

sport sedan which is close to the BMW 3-series in size, and will reportedly compete with the

M3 in terms of performance.

Structural stiffness is an obvious priority of the SSX engineers. Its sub-frame uses a number of

rigidity-enhancing techniques, such as extending the A-pillar reinforcements down to the floor

and incorporating a sturdy rollbar behind the rear bulkhead
